WHAT DO YOU RECALL ABOUT YOURS? ~ By Paul Pilarcik's laughin' lovin' daughter, Absolutely*Kate

That's my Dad ~ Paul Pilarcik.
( That's not me next to him, but that's my Dad! )

Dad?
Well what comes to mind is ~

*All our dogs were named Happy.

*Roberto Clemente and Terry Bradshaw were our heroes.

*Summers held vanilla ice cream in scooped out canteloupes and catching lightening bugs in the lawn at Grandpap's in Perryopolis, PA and goin' barefoot with sparklers in the back yard on the 4th of July.

*I watched people from over 50 Ohio A&P stores respect with affection and work hard out of desire for this warm and  open supervisor guy who always was "one of them".

*I knew laughter and golf scores that made him semi-pro and love for family and believing you could make anything possible and "Work Smarter not harder" and "You never know until you ask", of course.

*I grow my gardens all the greater no matter where I live, because of his.

*My love, the Prof has traveled the world many, many times. Once he asked me, "Where's one of the finest places you've ever been?" I didn't hesitate. "On the patio in Vienna, Ohio with coffee in hand . . . next to my Dad."

*I never knew a complaint or a negative word.

That's my Dad. Paul Pilarcik.
Greatest man I know.

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. ~Mark Twain, "Old Times on the Mississippi" Atlantic Monthly, 1874

While you were describing your dad and great memories, I'm thinking...I'm so happy for you. I never had those things. But, Canteloupe filld with ice cream, watching the lightning bugs and sitting and playing with others was grand. I hope all you guys have a wonderful Father's Day and all your children celebrate with you the love that Kate Pilcarcik has had.

He was shy but loved to laugh; he cried watching the news sometimes and always during Remembrance Day services; he could Macguyver anything. He was proud of me. I was proud of him.
Thanks for asking!
Your dad looks swell.

Y'know, the patio in little Vienna, Ohio (used to be one traffic light) is mighty big, has a lot of gliders and chairs and white rail space to prop your legs up while sitting back and sipping coffee, iced tea, lemonade or a cool bottle of your fave. I know my Dad would have a great laughing time asking questions into knowing the likes of you Ant, lovely Linda, Twain's son Harry, Mal, Cathy and Kevin. You'd all feel you'd been a part of that place and time ~ it just happens. Jeanette though, would become my Mom and Dad's new best friend and have a coffee mug with her own name on it in the double cupboard above the pot and not be allowed to leave without cuttings from various places in the garden. That of course would get Linda strolling on over and my Mom would regale her with tales of the Garden Club. Great afternoon, and if any of you play the links, Paul woulda known and given you some Arnie Palmer tips.

Cathy, I loved what you shared on your sweet strong sensitive Dad. MacGuyvering anything makes life never breakdown.

Thanks you guys ... a lot.
Smiling, Kate
