"ANOTHER ANNIVERSARY" ~ "LIGHT RELIEF" ~ "SNUFFED" ~ By Sandra Davies

"This is a whole new direction which I certainly have A*K's challenge to thank for. When I was younger I thought brains got set in concrete at about the age of 40 - I've been SO relieved to find that it definitely isn't so, but feel obliged to keep testing just in case.

Kate - the challenge was daunting - thank you."

ANOTHER ANNIVERSARY
By ~ Sandra Davies

Sheer stockings and immaculate nails, his choice of ‘totally inappropriate anniversary card’ (an occasional, unspoken challenge) had, with instinctive rapport, perfectly complemented her dinner-jacketed smoothie with knitting pattern expression of plastic perfection, despite the fact that they’d been bought separately and secretly some weeks before and hidden in luggage.

They’d planned a full day’s drive, exhilarated by the breadth and beauty of the Flinders countryside: far purple hills, innumerable shades of orange zested with the lime of new leaves, overheated and fly-ridden whenever they set foot out of the car, disproportionate excitement at the unexpectedness of a steam train, amusement at the smugness of a couple named Norm and Norma, awed by 500 million year old geology, impressively labelled.

Inbetweentimes she watched his hands on the wheel, familiar and knowing whenever he briefly stroked her denimed thigh, his eyes meeting hers with love and shared anticipation, although they could not have anticipated the solitary splendour of the Cradock Hotel whose highly fanciable landlord catered for a resident population of just five, with efficiency, pride and food to die for.

Their evening began with conversation, a couple of beers and a sunset, continued with good red wine and ended sitting outside listening to multiple conversations of a dozen or so locals who had assembled for a birthday celebration, looking at the stars and thinking of the room where they would – eventually – sleep that night.

The day’s slow burn – another unspoken challenge – had been one of mutual, muted celebration but they could never have hoped that the finale would take place in such a room: opening off an inner brick-floored courtyard, its high-ceiling, scuffed primrose walls and slat shaded window personified a simplicity not undone by furniture which totalled one wooden chair and an iron bedstead whose white sheets and heavy textured cover promised well-matched, well-worn comfort.

And indeed, after forty years of marriage, still hungry, still that ripple, that surge of clenching anticipation at first touch, ability replacing agility, sensitivity superseding inventiveness, well-matched, well-worn, well warm and tender, skin familiar, smell, taste, touch long known, long loved, each once again fulfilled their long ago promise to the other.

"Gosh and golly - this is the first piece of total fiction I've ever written, the first time ever that characters got into my head and said what they wanted to say ..."  ~ Sandra

LIGHT RELIEF
By ~ Sandra Davies

It had started as a bit of fun, a bit of light relief at the end of what had been an exceptionally drab day, and once the conversation paused she really hadn’t expected him to do any more than pick up the packet of cigarettes he’d bought, along with his change, and leave. But he’d caught her glancing at the clock, had realised that it was a couple of minutes after closing time (it was he that had delayed her) and noting her tiredness he offered to run her home (although where exactly ‘home’ was he didn’t bother to ascertain).

Pete had been in France for months – far longer than some of his mates, who’d looked a bit evasive when she met them on leave, on their way to the pub a couple of weeks ago, after Pete had written to say it’d be impossible to get away. She wasn’t a fool – he’d been really odd about fucking her while she was pregnant, even admitted one drunken, shrunken unsuccessful night (the drink her fault- she’d hoped it’d help) that he was scared the baby would bite him – so she’d’ve put money on him looking elsewhere.

Of course, like in all the films she’d seen, all the novels she’d read, this bloke had picked the one night she could be sure of the house being empty; the baby, three months old now, was with her mother and she had a nine-month ache of celibate desperation which no amount of DIY would assuage. The magazine had been in the doctor’s surgery, the advert for stockings had caught her eye because of the crumpled bedspread in the background (she could imagine what her mother would have to say about that) but it had planted an idea in her mind, which might solve both her loneliness and give her a bit of extra money – to buy nylons for example – perhaps this was an opportunity to see how she liked it, whether it was worth getting that picture copied and put on a few NAAFI noticeboards.

SANDRA ~ I don't want her to just have a quickie, end of story, one night stand - not for any moral reason but because I'm hoping that I can take this further and maybe with more complexity (though I don't know where at the moment). This is very much virgin territory (fiction I mean).

ABSOLUTELY*KATE:  Sandra DID continue way past the remnants of any one night stand . . . to a remarkable relationship in a new choice of voice her genre challenged her to take. READ ON at one more in this series below, then take a linger and a stroll through some of those postings in her prolific collections in the land of 6 Sentences.

SNUFFED
By ~ Sandra Davies

Just after seven – she’d managed a couple of hours sleep then, and yes, got a better sense of proportion than she’d had at four, when tears in her ears and the wet pillowcase had pretty well drowned all attempts at recovery. OK so Plan A had failed ... well perhaps not exactly failed, and it wasn’t really fair to call it a plan at all, because she’d hardly thought it out, it had been no more than a glimmer of an idea that she was holding onto until she had a bit of time to consider it. But what she did know now was that under no circumstances whatsoever could she go with just anyone – last night had shown her that he’d have to be at least ... at least a lot of things, and since she couldn’t see how she could list all her requirements, her ‘musts’ and her ‘must nots’ on one card (she giggled, imagining the size of card necessary) noticeboards were definitely out.

And also, she recognised that she’d have to put some effort in – keep the place tidy, a LOT tidier and Bridget’s baby stuff out of the way – oh god the nappies last night, clean ones on the table (at least they smelt sweet) but the one on the floor definitely hadn’t, and though she’d grabbed it as she went into the scullery to put the kettle on she doubted it’d gone unnoticed ... and offering a cup of tea! ... not that there was anything else except the scrapings of a bottle of Camp, but surely something better ought to be offered – sherry? (don’t be daft, that was for vicars!)

It’d been so much simpler before she married, when where didn’t matter, didn’t have be part of the setting, when was as soon as possible and who was the one you fancied at the time (and you fancied him because you knew him a bit, i.e. the fancying came first, mostly, not like last night).

A complete stranger, no knowledge of who he was, nothing to say to each other once she’d given directions and they’d done the awfulness of the weather; a man who somehow became a good deal smaller once he’d taken his overcoat off, and who looked very much a stranger sat on her sofa, a bit unhealthy looking, and older than Pete by a good six years she’d guess ... well, what was done was done, no good thinking about it, she’d better get up ... and the first thing she’d got to do was clear up the pieces of the shattered cup that she’d thrown.

"In truth this started as a response to a challenge,  fell by the wayside and was then revived with the "doesn't matter if I cock it up" attitude which I find works well with printmaking and painting ... interesting to find that writing might just do that too."  ~ Sandra

SANDRA DAVIES ~ I'm an artist, printmaker and writer with an interest in family, social and cultural history. I have fledgling blogs for prints, drawings, paintings and for writing.

"Inspired both by landscape and history, I like the fact that the impact of past actions on the present – man’s mark on the landscape and its subsequent erosion – is replicated in the printmaking process."

ABSOLUTELY*KATE: The writing process so distinctively expressed as history through perceptions has its own subsequent impact on readers, dear Sandra.

" Too Cool! "

~ By Absolutely*Kate
and
Harry B. Sanderford

For years of her West-coast career climb, folks got rather used to saying, "In for a Penny, out for a gold nugget", in regards to the success ratio of ferret-mining greater truths from shady grey areas which Penelope Payne presented clearly and endearingly in synthesized black and white to the public's winking eye. They got it. They got it. And oh how they loved it. Far past a "My Oh My!", savvy folks cheered on her direct spit-in-the-eye approach as the thorough type of investigative reporter who researched, interpreted and then clearly communicated uncovered secrets some would prefer to keep low-down quiet.

Born to a soft spoken family who ran a small but successful hotel outside of LA, Penelope grew and grew up her talents across the wide countryside, putting the kabosh on many a widespread crime scheme. Her signature style of deep digging entrenched her in readers' minds and memories across the Rockies into what detritus the Windy City blew around harsh streets. Chicago was tough but she gave that town her razzamatazz and made it boldly her own. Made herself some enemies too, some say spurring her eastward momentum a little quicker than her well-plotted plans would've had it. Penny stayed with the current along the Great Lakes, and having a fondness for slightly older men of fame, enjoyed Cleveland more than most while dating several inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, gathering insider info and rocking  rhythms as she continued her East Coast roll and role, to become the Hazeltown Holler's claim to international fame.

Penelope's beat into exposing limelight misappropriations from public officials, the corporate sector and special interest groups would've normally driven other staff reporters envy-green. Respect and admiration however, from both professional comrades and intellectual townsfolk carried so many to higher ground and opportunites with the clean-up batting she brought home, that she was a runaway hit in Hazeltown. The Holler became known in press syndicates for providing generous AP tips and Reuter whiffs of what-was-up on occasions where benefit rippled common good. Past normal broadcast channels, Payne developed a chain of in-the-know links generally never suspected in the breakdown of an open Pandora.

Frances Jeanette Cheezum was just such an enriching link, living and loving harmony now in tony Hazeltown as hometown darling of the local theatre review. Penny knew plenty of "Frannie C's" past ~ as few would ever fathom. The leverage she used was kind and its need touched the humanity of Cheezum's mind. She'd been a willing player of dispense and stir for decades now. But she hadn't been in her usual row #9 for their weekly theatre exchange AT THE BIJOU earlier today. Payne feared a rat had got to Cheezum before they were able to spring their trap.

That's why she was at The Lucky Shot, hands down, best place in town for getting lucky with how loose lipped leaks and lackadaisical liquored bravado could pummel two and two way past a fourth round. Dan Stine she recognized as the still slightly miffed Sergeant passed over for a well deserved promotion within the regional crimestoppers force. Powers-that-be had eleventh hour opted for the charm and pomp of the Aussie Phillips, as everyone in a hundred mile radius knew Hazeltown was a breeding ground for cosmopolitans on the lam. Somehow, they blended past blur with the non-yokel locals. Perhaps that's why Payne had found here her best refrain.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Eddie peeked through the mahogany double doors to spy Misses Kate, Sugar, Zelda and his piano teacher Mrs. Poe all questioning Lieutenant Phillips at once.  The yellow tape had been stretched out front just as Mr. Leon had predicted and all of the other officers and firemen, except for one, were gone. The fireman remaining held the leash of a dog that had stretched to its far end and was simultaneously growling and beeping. Lieutenant Phillips raised his hands and instructed, “One at a time ladies, please!”

It was enough of a distraction Eddie thought, so he eased the door open and once again motioned for Leon to follow him. They went quickly and unnoticed past the candy counters and up the stairs to the projection booth.

Eddie ducked under the yellow crime scene tape stretched across the doorway thinking, Coooool! Leon pulled the tape loose from one jam and let it dangle on the other before walking through. Eddie thought, Too Cooooool!

The first thing that struck them was the chalk outline. Well, not just the chalk outline, where it seemed weeks and weeks ago Eddie and Sugar had first found poor Sparky. No, it was the perfect popcorn outline outside of the chalk and the way it had created a sort of Sparky constellation on the carpet that gave them pause.

“Mr. Leon do you see…”

“Yes son (there was just no breaking some habits) I do,” Leon cut him off. “That is truly a first for me too. Don’t step over there and try not to touch anything.”

“What are we looking for?” Eddie asked.

“We’ll know it when we see it.” shrugged Leon, and with that they began a slow inspection of the cramped projection quarters. The shelves were stacked with film reels and paperback westerns that Chester liked to read once he’d seen a movie a number of times. Leon disregarded his own admonition thumbing through a stack of cardboard cutouts leaning against a file cabinet. Luke Skywalker he thought wore a rather serious expression for a hero sandwiched between Elvira and Jessica Rabbit. He leaned them back and reaching behind a short stack of Zane Greys turned a magic 8 ball in his hand that revealed all signs point to yes. He wished he’d thought of a question first and then wondered if maybe he had.

Eddie kept his hands in his pockets not trusting himself. He inventoried the individual components of clutter usually viewed as a whole in a naked glance. Three boxes of Sno-Caps stacked by a confiscated joy buzzer and a yoyo with no string. A hip pocket flask of sloe gin that Eddie had sneaked sips from, tucked behind them where it always was. Leon looked at a row of coffee mugs with people’s names on them. Seemed like one for everyone, Sugar, Kate, Harry, Eddie . . . ”Did Sparky have a regular coffee cup he used?” he asked the boy.

“Miss Kate got those for all of us last year. Sparky usually got an orange soda from the fountain on his way in but when he had coffee he just used Chester’s,” Eddie replied.

Leon used his handkerchief to lift the one with Chester on the front and took a sniff. He recoiled from the noxious odor and sat the cup back. “Junior, Partner, I think it’s time we break in your Super Spy Private Eye Fingerprinting Kit.", Leon winked.

Eddie was too excited to correct his partner about his name this time. Partner was just fine.

HELLO EARTH ~ By Absolutely*Kate of Harbinger*33

Hello Earth.

I love you, I thank you
and I wish you better days,
days into eternities
where appreciation urges
second thoughts tendering
best first choices.

Since your nature
is to brushstroke
in palettes of majestic,
and simplicity swashes
truth as tributary
to your innate strengths ...
then All Things Are Possible

poor.

We're part of your spiral,

We want to replenish
and soar.

GOOD WRITING ~ By Robert Crisman . . . as Fantasies Come to Play ~ AT THE BIJOU

GOOD WRITING
By ~ Robert Crisman

Someone once said somewhere that good writing doesn't hit you over the head. Rather, it has to be subtle. Whoever said that has too narrow a view.

Good writing sometimes left hooks you and spits in your eye, or makes you want to creep out of town and live six states away. Or take over the town that you're in.

Good writing changes the shape of the light in your eyes and that's it.

Good writers, I think the best, also bring the "big things" right down to earth. They throw light on the general, so that particulars finally make sense. This, after all, is not a "nonsensical" world.

(c) 2010 ~ Author Robert Crisman

Good Writing tried The SexyTouch *challenge* on at a place where only 6-sentences tell it like it is. I tendered the intrigue of this photo and spurred the stir of worthy writers to fling fantasies as perspective would have its say. Oh those good writers, changing the shape of the light in your eyes.

Following are Robert Crisman again, a few you know and a few rather new, making their AT THE BIJOU debut. All are most welcome to keep on coming back and hanging 'round their perspectives' bright gleam.

DO ENJOY!

DARK DAMES
AND DRY MARTINIS
By ~ Richard M. Johnson

It started with a dame, it always starts with a dame. The big question has always been, will it actually end with her and you, or was she simply using you as a means to an end, with you ending up discarded like the trash you would normally put in a dumpster? The offer she made was a generous one that included her and a truckload of cash. But as you sit there contemplating the bullet hole that created another innie, right next to your original bellybutton, you wonder if it was really worth it ... You smile knowing that after that first martini flavored kiss of hers, and the way she brushed your chin with the finely manicured fingernail, you'd always have to say, "Yeah"... Even though that one word ends up being coughed up with your very last breath, and a sizable amount of your own blood ...
(Felt I owed ya one, Kate)

MANNEQUIN IN LOVE
Introducing ~ Brad Rose

Your touch is as gentle as a willow combed by a June breeze, but I feel nothing as you unbutton me. I’m vacant as a mall parking lot on Christmas day. The Musak is deafening. I have no idea what sex is. You lean close and kiss me, as if I am a statue. One day, I hope to bear you children, although I have no idea what children are.

HUNGRY FOR SEX,
YET NOT REALLY
Introducing ~ Kim Soles

It’s okay to be celibate, really, just get into it, I try to convince myself, flipping the Rigatoni Alla Buttera from side to side on the oversized plate. I spear the ridged pasta with my fork and lick the savory cream sauce off the slippery noodle sucking it in gradually, biting and swallowing slowly. The pasta is not turning me on I tell myself as the mousy-brunette waitress wanders over and asks if I am enjoying my meal. What I’m enjoying is staring at your nipples through your starched white shirt as I sip my Italian red and nod my head a definite yes, my tongue cleans the drops of wine from my lips easy as an alley cat. Jesus Christ, I’m not into women, I gaze at the glazed whole carrots on the gentleman’s plate seated at the next table, and I quickly imagine a threesome - him, his carrots and the waitress. It's cool, I can handle it, I don’t need sex, and after all, my masturbation techniques are superb, my mind chatters as the dessert cart rolls by; the special - Banana’s Foster, “I’ll take three!”
(c) 2010 ~ Author Kim Soles
KIM SOLES Artist on call. Photographer at large. Mother to one. Writer of moments.

ABSOLUTELY*KATE ~ Kim has also been known to answer to the nom de plum of Robin . . . but I'm certain that's because she has so many wings to try out in the verse-a-tale-ity which soars her all the more, all the more.

MY DEEP LASTING NEED
By ~ Robert Crisman

I remember you, Kim. You were ivory burnished by rage and your eyes were so calm they stopped breezes.

You whispered soft slurs in my ear as our bodies entwined in the darkness and sang the old song, sometimes off-key and sometimes attended by others to help whet desire in accord with the dictates of voices implanted a long time ago; yet almost always the echoes lapped gently as you closed your eyes and then pressed against me to sleep.

Wide awake still I'd raft through the wilds, your storms bathing mine in a light in a forest rainswept at the end of the world, a place I'd never called home until I met you.

Then morning the yellow sun bled through the east bedroom window on Redwing, me blinking sleep and you in the mirror re-arming, vain as a cat and so what; your long stride into the wind gave courage a name for the day.

Our love you said later was theft winging south, but for me what we had were remembered echoes of home, the heart's own deep need.
(c) 2010 ~ Author Robert Crisman

ROBERT CRISMAN ~  I write stories about lost dogs on mean streets. I've written three novels so far, two novellas, a slew of short stories, screenplays, and plays. I've recently had a number of stories posted on the blogsite A Twist Of Noir.

LIPSTICK
Introducing ~ Teresa Cortez

Clarence, middle-aged but having the libido of a boy band, pined for a dark-haired beauty named Pricilla, a young secretary who shared his small office at Parks Insurance; he could see right under her desk, her shapely legs providing an exquisite view of the dense shadowy heart between them, clearly visible in the frequent absence of panties.

He envied her lipstick, longed to be the waxy probe gliding over rose petal pillows, then burrowing inside for an erotic swim in warm wet plush. He almost couldn't cope anymore, finding it difficult to stand when called to his manager's office across the hall or when memos needed Xeroxing.

One afternoon he took his lunch outside under an Elm tree when soon he was joined by the bare-bottomed Pricilla who motioned to the ground to which he could only nod with a mouth full of turkey on rye; she stretched luxuriously on the bed of grass, silk skirt rising with the slow arching of her back, a tan expanse of skin revealed for Clarence to devour in savory increments.

His eyes moved hungrily to the pair of plump round spheres he imagined bursting through the taut pink of cashmere, each delicious orb cupped in greedy hands, a palpable image that now caused a raging pulse in his Dockers, the distraction muffling Pricilla's life-changing question, "Hey, wanna go to the movies tonight?"

Six months later Clarence moved about the office with the calm assurance of a well-fed lion, king of Park's pride, and no longer envious of Pricilla's waxy probe.

(c) 2010 ~ Teresa Cortez

TERESA CORTEZ ~ I write a lot, publish a little, and have kept a journal for 35 years. Before I decided to write full time, I flipped burgers, twirled pizzas, and pretended to be a secretary for a CPA and attorney. I subsequently took x-rays for 22 years and massaged weary naked people for the latter 10 of those. In my spare time I wrote stories about love and photographed a few Renaissance weddings for friends, all just a tiny taste of what I wanted the rest of my life to be like. I put a bomb in my old life, blew down a wall between me and my favorite pen, and now write in a fairy tale house full of kids and yes, it's shaped like a shoe.

ABSOLUTELY*KATE ~ Watch for more TERESA AT THE BIJOU. Though she and I sometimes share psychic vibes, word on the street really confirms it ~ there's some story brewin' about a neuroanatomist who falls in love with a brain before the amnesiac dies ... Come on - I can't make stuff like this up ... but Ms Cortez can. Watch for it!

SEXY TOUCH "CHALLENGE"
Introducing ~Michael R. O'Connor

Rising from yet another questionable night of passion, you sit and adorn the edge of the bed.

Atop the nightstand in a crumpled ball rests the end result of quickly removed silk that draped your flawless legs.

A hundred dead cigarettes and two overturned wine bottles just more reminders of awkward youthful haste.

Searching the musty smelling room for signs of familiarity you rise and gather the crumpled silk and wad of twenties.

Stepping over my coma state she omits a chuckle at the sight of a hairless chest and spiderman boxers.

Softly closing the door behind her, one more notch on the garter belt.
(c) 2010 ~ Author Michael R. O'Connor

MICHAEL R. O'CONNOR ~ I have been writing for most of my life, but only recently had my first e-book published. Like most writers I have boxes and boxes of hand written thoughts gathering dust. I have recently submitted some of my work at authors.com and am glad to get the feedback I have been receiving. My goal is to be able to publish more, share and learn. My first published book is available at http://www.mobipocket.com The title is "The last hoorah".

ABSOLUTELY*KATE ~ Oh those Spiderman boxers - Oooh Baby!

Gives new verse to "Is that a pistol in your pocket or are you glad to see me?", doesn't it girls?

LOVE WEB
Introducing ~ Bob Clay
( to so many who are quite aware of this bloke's classic wit )

She was the most sensational woman I have ever seen. High Slavic cheekbones led down to a slender neck that expanded into full breasts leading onward to a tiny waist, and legs that disappeared into infinity, like one of those desert roads that splits the horizon. Naked except for a pair of tiny shorts, she pushed me gently into the bedroom, her body dovetailing into mine, a perfect fit.

My hands started on her back, warm skin, smoother than polished chrome and they drifted down into the curve of her waist and over rounded hips to those wonderful satin legs generating lust and desire in some magma chamber deep within me.

“Men like you taste so good,” she murmured, but I wasn’t listening, my fingers were fumbling with the side zipper on the shorts, seeking a way into heaven. She pressed me back and I felt something cold and sticky stretch over my back, I looked down and those wonderful legs had now become eight arched black quivering things, choking me with terror, and the slavic cheekbones were two huge hairy mandibles encircling my face, her body a huge dark bloated balloon covered in nodules oozing obscene glistening secretions … I tried to pull back but I was caught fast in that sticky web, a web woven to catch something much larger than a fly.
 (c) 2010 ~ Author Bob Clay
Bob Clay ~  errr...(where's that script ?) ..... ahhh ... found it. I've scrubbed the Robert. When someone calls me that, they're inevitably trying to sell me something. I like motorcycles, mountains, computers (even the one that persistently beats me at chess, I mean, I can always tell it 'My hands on the on/off button smartarse...). Some favourite authors/books (like any list, this is incomplete): Early Len Deighton (Ipcress File, Funeral in Berlin). In those days Deighton was the Chandler of the spy genre. Alfred Bester (The Stars my Destination), possibly the greatest SciFi book ever written. Frank Herbert (Dune) vies with the above for the title. William Horwood (Duncton Wood) on a par with Tolkien. Cormac McCarthy. Dark and brooding. Ahhh there's too many to list..... I also like motorcycles (cough). Then there's reading, films, books, samurai swords, pub chat and of course ... the beer that goes with it and walking, mile after mile where necessary. Did I mention motorcycles ? ..... :-/
ABSOLUTELY*KATE ~ So Bob? You vroooom as fast as you write?

ROWINA
Introducing ~ B.R. Stateham

She stood in front of me with breasts bare and nipples as firm as fresh cherries. Long black hair fell past her shoulders as blue eyes, as blue as Norwegian glaciers, stared at me unblinking. We were alone in her apartment, the bed behind her disheveled and ravaged from our lovemaking. "You're leaving me," she said, her voice a lifeless echo of what once was a human voice. "Yes," I hissed, collapsing to my knees and gripping my throat with both hands as blood--my blood--seeped between my fingers. "Good," she answered, smiling, her long fangs suddenly revealed in their porcelain whiteness coated in blood.

(There you are, Kate. I should have entitled it, 'Tough Love.')

(c) 2010 ~ Author B.R. Stateham

B.R. Stateham ~ I like to write. Mostly novels, true. Hard-boiled, noir crime fiction. Heroic sci/fi and fantasy. Sometimes a few short stories--and even some poetry. I've been both published and self-published. Yet so far I haven't made enough dough to rub two nickles together. Still, like all writers, the dream lives on. A HAPPIER ANNIVERSARY
By ~ D.D. Peattie

Sheila enjoyed the candlelight dinner Preston prepared for their anniversary, and was sipping wine looking into the eyes of a man whom she'd loved since first sight at 17.

Shock, from his termination at the mechanical engineering firm where Preston had labored 7 years, had turned his mind into a nerf ball of numbed stress about finances, despite their savvy budget-planning and investments that were enough to keep him and Sharon afloat for a shortening while.

She began to unbutton her blouse with one hand as she took his hand, motioning toward the bedroom with a nodding whisper, "Your anniversary present is in there," the bedroom where no dam had ever ebbed the flood of passions yielding mutual satisfactions leaving wont for no other.

"There's one more present for you, Preston, and it's a photograph you'll find inside your pillowcase," as his reaction nearly ripped the case from the down pillow.

He found the photo and, as he looked at her quizzically, heard her say, "Yes, those are my legs, and the same one's around you now..." as she scissored him and grinned, "are gonna support us both because I just received a hundred thousand dollar advance for that photo's selection to be on every print ad and billboard for a new line of stockings, worldwide."

He'd have fainted if she hadn't struck the first blow to the ensuing grandaddy of all pillowfights that turned into tickling, giggling, and finally wrestling on what would become their most celebrated anniversary to date.

D.D. PEATTIE ~ I'm big enough to have GPS coordinates, 56, half-hobbled, employed, and often lie about my residential zip code to acknowledge birth in the bluegrass of Kentucky's commonwealth. Divorced, childless, left-handed, Republican, Roman Catholic and am unapologetic for same. I'm 90% German, 10% Scot and my last name rhymes with orange, sweetie, and Tweety. I love international travel and my pooch, am a vet who sometimes rides my motorcycle. I don't scrimp on coffee or lively discourse, or on good bourbon or tequila and good via my own definition. I compose music because I can and only for private enjoyment (classical, bossa nova, movie-overture, et al). April will find me exploring Oaxaca's coast. And maybe I'll craft the foregoing into 6 sentences. Maybe. Cowabunga! Long Live Joe Cool!
